The first two issues of Disability Times Newspaper produced by Jafar Raza.

1993
Theresa Moore, Marilyn Graves and Nicola Coleman joined as regular contributors.

1994
Disability Times was contacted by Vicky Scott of Rights Now, asking for support in the face of opposition by Lady Olga Maitland and five other MP’s to the Berry Bill.
Theresa Moore took over as editor and publisher and the first issue under new team was produced.

1995
As larger premises were needed, Disability Times moved to the International Community School in Camden, North London. Work placements were set up for people from Outset and Workforce. The contract was secured with Teletext to write each week on ITV Channel 4 under the title, Dis-Ability Update. Proceedings to set up a Trust body commenced with Mr John Offeh, Legal Advisor to the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.
Alfred Morris MP agreed to help secure permanent premises . Links with the London College of Printing were established and the first training set up at London College of Printing for two Disability Times clients. The first contract with Employment Services (ES) was secured for a Work Preparation and Rehabilitation project.

1996
Teletext expanded.
Premises secured with help from Alf Morris MP and Tom Clarke MP.
Moved into offices in Ealing and commenced ES Work Prep.

1997 - 2000
Establishment of further training programmes.
Lord Alfred Morris of Manchester agreed to become Chair of Trust.

2001
Further training programmes established, including eleven ES contracts under New Deal and Work Based Learning for Adults. Commenced ‘Pathways for Disabled People’ and ‘Pathways to Publishing’ for disabled/disadvantaged jobseekers, both with ESF funding; also ‘Evening Access to Publishing’ allowing disadvantaged beneficiaries to upgrade their skills in Desktop Publishing and Web Design.

2002 - 2003

Launched major fund raising campaign to secure the Trust’s own freehold premises.
Start of Workstep for Disabled People.

2004
Acquired and moved into own freehold premises in Ealing. Closure of Disability Times Newspaper in order to relaunch as The Citizen, a London-based publication with a readership drawn from all disadvantaged sections of the community.

2005
Formation of The Citizens Trust to reflect the increasing need to include all disadvantaged sections of the community within the remit of the training provision. Commenced ‘Pathways from Re-Offending’, working with HMPS Holloway and Wormwood Scrubs. The programme provides high-level training for inmates approaching the end of their sentences, followed by continued training and support after release.
